ASSESSMENT RATES AND VALUATIONS
There are numerous queries which relate to billing of Assessment Rates.
Problems must be addressed as soon as possible as the Council does not normally correct errors on valuation rolls retrospectively. The new Valuation Roll will be published in 2012 and owners do not want an error to remain on the roll for years.
To evaluate your assessment rates, you must check the following:
1. Does the statement reflect the correct owner
2. Is your address correct on your statement.
3. Is your Erf number correct. Make sure that it reflect the correct subdivision (if your property is subdivided).
4. Is the size of your property correct.
5. Is the valuation of your property correct
6. Is the category of your property correct. Each property category is differently rated. Categories are mainly Residential, Sectional title, Business and Commercial, Agricultural, and Vacant. If a property is developed, make sure that the fact is recorded, as VACANT LAND attracts the highest Assessment Rates.
Kindly contact us with any queries. If we can advise you on the statement, we will do so without raising any fees. If rectifications must be done, we will give a quote to you before commencement of any work.
WE ARE NOT VALUERS. WE CAN NOT GIVE ANY OPINION ON THE CORRECTNESS OF VALUATIONS OF PROPERTIES. WE MAY REFER YOU TO A PANEL OF COMPETENT VALUERS.
